Trends for Sign Design In 2018
When it comes to running your business, you need to create a powerful first impression for your customers. In cities such as New York this is crucial. Signs act as the visual handshake between the business and their customers. It is the first impression that speaks to the customer without them having to set foot in the actual establishment, and if placed in the right area, can draw the eyes of literally millions of potential customers. So, it’s kind of of a big deal, and New York Signs & Awnings, Inc. have met that demand, tenfold.
Over time, signs have evolved into trendy artistic choices, each bolder than the last. The changes may not appear to be drastic in back-to-back years, but when you look at them over time, the changes become drastic. We at New York Signs & Awnings, Inc. have kept our ears to the ground and used plenty of these designs as well.
2018 was a bold year for design, unleashing a surge of creativity that both businesses and customers were infatuated with. Among these trends were the clever use of metaphors and pushing their wordplay to the limit while simultaneously creating a striking image. While not used as often on signs per say, they were used more on smaller items such as business cards and such. Still, it caught like wildfire, and it will see a lot of use in 2018.
Geometry may be simple, but it still belongs in the art of expression. Some companies wanted to cling to a more rudimentary shape, giving off a mood of poise and stature to their logo. Rigid lines, and hard angles don’t exactly appeal to the fun and carefree style associated with small companies, but they can give off an air of elegance and prestige.
Everyone has a favorite font that they adore and try to base their own handwriting on. That niche has found its way into design and has become a flare of creativity. Typography has been around since the time of the Egyptians in 3100 B.C. and has captured the hearts of designers all around the world. The creativity that can be expressed with just the written word alone has been inspiring for us and blows the lid off the creative think tank. If creating fun styles for typography alone was this much fun, we can’t wait to see what comes next.
